Slightly out of the ordinary: Large Zine in the Making

You had set that underpaper aside because honestly, the numbers were a bit distracting when filming other things. 

But then the slightly unusual size catches your eye.

Along with the spot of color……You’re such a sucker for green. (always)

Not much else needed for you to want to add something else to that paper. Build on what was there. 

And no pressure…. This is underpaper.

Underpaper?

The paper that is placed “under” the area you are working. Because you are messy. Not a little messy- 

• Like make a lake messy when spraying off paint or ink because you like it that way. 

• Like close your eyes when you are scribbling and hope that you are on whatever you are making and not just scribbling on the table. 

• Like stamp onto something else and then print.

• Squeeze paint onto that paper because you can’t find a plate or palette.

• The paper to hold the ripped off collage paper or piece of washi you thought you wanted and then never used. 

• The paper to test color pencils on before actually using them. 

Anyway….. So the numbers were overstamped. 

No thought or aching over placement- just stamped off, because I didn’t want the first, bold print. I wanted the next print. (If you know, you know.)

And the color- just smudges and drips.

Who knew that such play could lead to such happiness? But, honestly, don’t you have days where you just want some creative play? No pressure? You aren’t making a masterpiece… (or at least I am not. Lol.)

But a few minutes of glue, tape, pencil and smudges. 

The other thing I can say is that I like being unexpectedly surprised by things slightly out of the ordinary. So the zine that is larger than usual…. Such a pleasant surprise of happiness. 

This ended up being three parts in the making. 

I liked what I ended up with the first day so I decided- it really can’t just stay like that for heaven sake! So I made a part two. And then the paper looked so fun, but the paper was large.

And thus, the folding began….. Leading to part three. And the zine.
