Carving stamps & download

I love carving new stamps. if you have never done it- I highly recommend trying if you like to use stamps in your work. Nothing better than stamping with your own stamps.

My caving tool is a regular tool from Speedball and the extra tips can go in the fat end that unscrews; so when you need/ want to switch out for a different tip, the tips are handy and can be swapped.

Now you may be wondering about what I carve into….. in desperate times, I have been known to carve into the cheap, large erasers from the dollar store! Those totally work in a pinch! And you can usually grab those for a buck. They are more difficult to carve because of their composition and fine detail is a bit sketchy, but carving can be done. If you are looking for something that carves easily (more like butter….) than I would recommend either the Speedball carving block or Moo Carve.

I like and use either of the carving blocks I have listed above. The Moo carve I have is thicker (0.75'“) and will allow for carvings on both sides of the block, where the Speedball comes in varying thicknesses, but typically only allows carving on one side.

Wondering what to carve?! Ask yourself what shapes do I like? Maybe start with some dots or lines and remember variety is the key; so make some bigger/ thicker, and some smaller/ thinner. Then start branching out from there. You literally can carve anything!

Looking for some inspiration? Tina Walker and DeeDee Catron are doing what is called StampLab every Friday where they had asked for carving prompts and are then making stamps and doing a give away if you carve the prompt and use the hashtag #stamplab. This weeks prompt was “funky houses” - which were adorable!!

I also need to apologize for last months calendar ….. goodness!!! So sorry! I am not sure what happened- let’s say I assumed I was using a 2021 calendar- but we all know what happens when we assume……

So let’s try this again for February and I verify that the calendar is correct this time. Lol!!

Thank you again for being here!
