mixed media affirmation cards made with a gelli plate, alcohol inks and stencils…..i was asked to share my favorite card…. but it was hard to say I had a favorite card; so how about a favorite view?

Tina Walker was looking for creatives who were interested in making an affirmation deck or tarot deck using Stencilgirl Products.

Well who can resist this opportunity?! I certainly could not.

I looked around the studio for something I could use as my “base” for the cards and found these language/ spelling cards. Each card had a letter on it and I came up with words I felt I may need to see, read and hear:

If, big, next, and, yes, leap, seek, can, full, reach, with, am pick, wish

I typed up positive, affirmation messages to go with each of my words.

I used a gesso wash on the cards to begin with and then used a gelli plate with stencils and alcohol ink. I blended the alcohol inks a bit and then went back over the cards with payne’s grey acrylic paint and used a black ink pen to “score” some of the stencil lines and shapes.

Some of the stencils I used can be found below:

The last thing I did was to stitch around the cards.

I had also decided it would be nice to keep all the cards together and created a pouch or bag for my cards. Here is a video flip through of my final project.

I love how my deck turned out and so enjoyed the whole process of making it.

Huge thank you to Tina and Stencilgirl!

Let me know if you have any questions! Would love to hear any comments as well!
