The Magic of Starting: When Your Attempt Shines

There is something about that first [one] you create.

At least the first one that you are happy with.

That you feel is successful.

Do you feel the attachment?

An immediate fondness. That creative bond?

Maybe it is just me.

I did punch needle for our threads prompt for The Ugly Art Club

My thought was to make a cute cup coaster.

My very first one was a quasi-coaster at best. In fact, I ended up making a follow up video in June after I had learned more- had to share with our members.

But I did really want to get a grasp on this punch needle.

Mainly I think it's because of my mild yarn obsession and not knowing how to knit or crochet…. that could be a whole ‘nother blog post. lol….

So I continued on.

Making another coaster, and even though my next coaster wasn’t perfect, it was what I am going to say was my first “successful coaster.”

Yep.

A put your cup of coffee on it. Looks super-cute coaster.

Love.

My intention is to make more. (and I have…. so stay tuned; they may get added to the shop)

But, you now know I am keeping that first one.

That is the one full of so many lessons learned. Imperfections, sore fingers, but when I put my coffee on that coaster…. It is lovely and perfect for my studio space.

What are your thoughts on keeping your first successful piece?
